Singapore 09 Oct 2015: Business Excellence & Research Group (BERG), Singapore felicitated distinguished educationists & Indian Institutions for excellence in education at their recently held 2nd BERG Education Awards 2015.
The Key note speaker Dr. S.S. Mantha, the immediate past chairman of AICTE mentioned that Indian Education Industry is going through a very challenging phase currently, with the increasing focus on Skill Initiatives & the Make in India plans. He said “Students these days prefer skills based training over Art, Commerce, Science or Engineering” he said, while highlighting the National Skills Quality Framework that can address the need for vocational training right from standard 9th, to prepare the candidates for job oriented skills.
A panel discussion on the topic “skills development & entrepreneurship – managing life long learning” was held with panellists comprising Dr. Shyama Raju – Chancellor, REVA University, Bangalore, Dr. S.S.Mantha –past chairman AICTE, Mr. Manish Tripathy – Board member, Global Indian Schools, Singapore and Mr. Zafar Anjum – author, Startup Capitals. The panel was moderated by Vishwesh Iyer, Managing Partner, BERG Singapore.
The Education Awards by BERG focusses on recognizing & identifying the immense amount of work that is being done by Individuals & Institutions, big & small, across the length & breadth of India. The awards are also a platform to elevate the profile & brand presence of the institutions in India.
