Renowned Indian architect, Mr Hafeez Contractor was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural BERG Awards for Excellence in Indian Real Estate here on July 25 evening. Conceptualised and hosted by Singapore-based Business Excellence & Research Group (BERG), the awards also recognised the contribution of many developers, architects and interior designers from India.
Chairman of the BERG Advisory Board, Mr Thomas McMahon said, “We are extremely happy with the interest that the BERG Awards generated among the Indian real estate community in its very first year. Technology and innovation will play a critical role as India goes about managing its rapidly urbanising population. BERG’s efforts will be to build on this platform and take it to the next level.”
The BERG Awards for Real Estate 2014 attracted participation from a large cross-section of real estate players spanning the categories of developers, architects, and interior designers from across India. Based on a multiple level evaluation by the BERG team of analysts a total of 10 awards were presented at the Gala Awards night in Singapore. The Founding President of The Innovators Institute, Singapore, Mr. Charlie Ang was among the key guests present on the occasion.
Among the Developer Community the award winners were – EmaarMGF for Apartment & Luxury Villas Development category for The Palm Springs at Gurgaon, Living Walls, Bangalore in Apartment Complex for Another Sky, Prithvi Edifice, Pune in Residential Development (Multiple Units) for Prithvi Prisidio, Runwal Group, Mumbai in Residential High Rise category for Runwal Elegante and in Luxury Development for Runwal Eirene, City Corporation, Pune in Mixed Use Development for Amanora Park Town and Provident Housing in the Residential Development category.
Prashant Sutaria Architecture from Mumbai was the recipient of the Affordable Residential Architecture for its project Estate Square in Ranchi and Ateet Vengurlekar from Blue Arch Interiors, Mumbai received the award in the Office Interior category.
Mr Vishwesh Iyer, Managing Partner, BERG Singapore said, “The Indian real estate sector continues to be a lucrative story. The annual BERG awards will aim to shine the spotlight on the high calibre potential and work within the Indian Real Estate industry. By creating this platform in Singapore, we aim to expose Indian talent to practices in a developed market like Singapore. This, we hope, will help in bringing new thinking into an industry that is at the core of providing a fundamental need for shelter in the world’s second most populous country.”
The Awards night was followed by a two-day property exhibition at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre with some key properties in Indian metro cities on showcase.
