Startup Capitals, a thought-leadership conference based on the recently published book authored by Singapore-based author and journalist, Zafar Anjum, was held on May 20 at The POD, National Library Building. The one-day conference also marked the official release of the book, celebrating the innovation/startup ecosystem of cities that are making a mark on the world map.

It brought together various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, innovators, researchers and educational specialists, government leaders and venture capitalists, under one roof.

Mr Steve Leonard, Executive Dy Chairman, IDA, delivered a key note speech on “Building the World’s First Smart Nation,” while Mr Zachary Caceres, award winning writer, entrepreneur and Director of Startup Cities Institute based in Guatemala City delivered a key note speech on “Startup Cities, Micro reforms and treating governance services as a technology for start-ups to innovate.”

One of the sessions also featured a dialogue on the book, Startup Capitals, between the author Mr Zafar Anjum and Mr Andy Mukherjee, Columnist at Breaking Views – Thomson Reuters. Mr Anjum has earlier authored fiction and non-fiction titles including “The Resurgence of Satyam”, “Iqbal” and “Singapore Decalogue”.

Startup Capitals 2015 Singapore conference was organised by Singapore-based Business Excellence & Research Group Pte Ltd (BERG) and Kitaab International and was supported by Tata Communications, TrustSphere, TiE, The Innovators Institute, DealStreetAsia.com and AsiaBizToday.com. The next leg of the conference series will be hosted in Delhi & Bangalore in October this year.
